Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” This passage isn’t just a suggestion; it’s a blueprint for raising children who know and love God.  

• Living it out: Our children learn more from our actions than our words. Let them see your faith in action – in how you handle challenges, how you treat others, and how you prioritize your relationship with God. Share your own faith journey with them, including your struggles and triumphs. For example, I remember when my son was struggling with anxiety. Sharing my own experiences with prayer and reliance on God’s strength helped him find comfort and develop his own relationship with God.
• Creating a faith-centered home: Make your home a sanctuary of faith. Incorporate daily Bible reading and prayer into your family routine. Discuss biblical principles and how they apply to everyday situations. We started a tradition of reading a short devotional together at breakfast, which has led to some amazing conversations about faith and life.

Teach your children about online safety and responsible digital citizenship. We implemented a “no phones at the dinner table” rule, which has fostered more meaningful family conversations. We also use parental control apps to monitor our children’s online activity and ensure they are engaging with safe content.
• Peer Pressure and Cultural Influences: Our children are constantly bombarded with messages that contradict biblical values. Help them develop a strong sense of self-worth grounded in their identity in Christ. Teach them how to respectfully disagree with others while staying true to their beliefs. We encourage our children to ask questions about things they see and hear in the world around them. This gives us opportunities to discuss different viewpoints from a biblical perspective.
• Answering Tough Questions: Our children will inevitably have questions about faith, suffering, and the world around them. Don’t be afraid to tackle these tough topics head-on. Be honest and open with your children, and don’t be afraid to say “I don’t know,” but always point them back to the truth of God’s Word. When my daughter asked me why bad things happen to good people, we explored the book of Job together and talked about the mystery of God’s plan.

Connect with your church community and participate in parenting groups or workshops. We have found a wonderful support system in our small group at church. Sharing our struggles and praying for one another has been invaluable.
